Independence

Who pays for the research, how we stay independent, and what happens when a supermarket questions our figures.

Funding

Allsupers Research is an independent, self-funded one-person initiative. The research is not paid for by supermarkets, trade associations or government bodies.

The consumer side of Allsupers (the price comparison on allsupers.co.uk) runs on the same infrastructure, but the research publication follows its own editorial line that is separate from commercial decisions on the consumer product.

Frequently asked questions

QuestionAnswer
Do supermarkets pay for a position in the ranking? No. The ranking is fully data-driven. No supermarket has access to, influence over, or advance sight of the outcome before publication.
How is revenue separated from the research?Revenue is separate from research results. The methodology is fixed in advance; the outcome of an edition does not affect agreements with third parties.
What commercial relationships exist with supermarkets? At this time: none. There are no affiliate relationships, no advertising arrangements and no paid partnerships with supermarkets. If this changes, it will be stated explicitly here before the next publication.
Is the methodology adjusted under pressure from a supermarket? No. The methodology is publicly fixed. Every change appears in the methodology changelog with date, reason and version number. Retailer objections go through the corrections procedure - not through a quiet methodology change.
What is the corrections procedure?Reports via [email protected]. Assessment within five working days; confirmed corrections published within another five working days. Full procedure on /research/methodology#corrections.

Affiliate disclosure

Allsupers has no affiliate relationships with supermarkets at this time. Scrape selection and product matching are determined fully automatically on the basis of the published methodology - not on the basis of commercial arrangements. If this changes, it will be stated here, with the retailer name and the nature of the arrangement, before the next research publication.
